“The two improvised in symbiosis, as if they were bound to each other by invisible physical, mental and emotional ties, in constant accord, as if neither one was playing the role of a soloist or backup. No ego to be found! They improvised completely by creating melodies, variations, interactions, progressions and accents, the exploration of textures incarnated the spirit of collective improvisation in an absolutely exemplary way – a group ethic. We might think of the sounds of Complete Communion, the title of the Blue Note album, which brought together Don Cherry, Gato Barbieri, Henry Grimes and Ed Blackwell in two memorable suites. Like the Argentine Gato, a tenor saxophonist as well, the Brazilian Ivo had a Latin-American feel and sensibility, with a sound, accents and lyricism, a je-ne-sais-quoi reminiscent of the South American continent. 
Without quite knowing why, by listening, you can tell that it’s not a tenor sax from Chicago, New York or Philadelphia, or even London. The cohesion between the pianist and the saxophonist is very deep, and this complete solidarity, strongly felt by the audience, helps to magnify their individual qualities. Seated very near the musicians, the saxophonist’s glass of water and box of reeds are also placed between a cup of coffee and glasses of beer of the audience members. The audience is literally submerged in the flow of sound, listening with their eyes, watching the music closely through the musicians’ skin and bones in completely relaxed posture, gripped with concentration. They listen in front, on the sides, behind, and even from above, perched on the railing of the mezzanine. The very stylish waitresses don’t make the slightest sound."In may 2017 Perelman and Shipp have performed and recorded in L'Archiduc a memorable concert which went issued as "Live In Brussels" on a Leo Records Double CD and was considered by the artists as one of their very best performances, the audience being the warmest they experienced in a long while. Now, they will plunge again in this outstanding bar Art - Deco, Home of the deepest jazz & improvised music concert performance...
